Students of Southbank Institute of Technology are able to access the computers in the library, e-Learn and most classrooms on campus in accordance with the Computer Access Agreement (Adobe PDF).
Benefits include:
- a secure login to the network
- access to a 'Home' drive of storage space on the Institute server when you log in from any Southbank Institute computer
- access to class notes that will be stored on the network
- the ability to electronically submit assessments.
Internet Access Service (IAS)
Students are allocated 600 Mb of Internet Quota every semester. Additional Internet Quota is available for purchase at the Student Services Centres for $25 per 100 Mb.
You can check your Internet Quota by logging into the Internet access website. This is available via the Favourites menu in Internet Explorer and selecting “Internet access service homepage”.
How to log on:
- Enter your username (this is your student ID number)
- Enter your password (initially this will be your birthdate - ddmmyyyy) e.g. 1 August 1986 will be 01081986
- Read and agree to the Computer Access Agreement (Adobe PDF)
Please note the first time you log on, you will be prompted to change your password.
Password tips:
- passwords must contain a minimum of six characters (numbers and/or letters)
- you can only log in to one machine at a time
- you will be required to change your password regularly
- please remember to log out when you finish or your personal account will remain open for everyone to access
- should you forget your password and need it reset, please see an e-Learn tutor with your student ID card.
Finding computers with additional software:
- Some specialist software is available on selected computers in the Library & e-Learn. A map is available showing the location and type of software. A list of the standard software packages, available on computers in the Library & e-Learn is available here.
Please note that certain sites are exempt and do not use the Internet Quota. For more information, see the Internet Service website.
