The Australasian Mechanical Copyright Owners Society (AMCOS) represents almost all Australian and New Zealand music publishers. Under international agreements with like organisations, AMCOS also represents the composers, writers and music publishers of the rest of the world. AMCOS is the licensing body within the Australian Music Publishers Association Ltd (AMPAL), and can authorise, by the granting of licences, the copying of music. The rights of AMCOS members are administered by the Australasian Performing Right Associated Limited. |

The Australasian Performing Right Associated Limited (APRA), a non-profit association, represents 30 000 music writer and publisher members. It was the original Australian copyright collecting agency, established in 1926 and is part of an international network of like organisations. APRA also represents the interests of over one million international composers, songwriters and publishers under reciprocal, bilateral contracts. APRA administers the performing rights in music, that is, performance in public and communication to the public. This performance and communication is via radio, television, pay-television, music venues and online businesses. Australian Copyright Council is an independent non-profit organisation. Its objectives include assisting creators and other copyright owners to exercise their rights effectively, raise community awareness of the importance of copyright, and review copyright law and lobby for changes to enhance the useability of copyright. |

The Copyright Agency Limited (CAL), was formed in 1974 by the Australian Society of Authors, the Australian Book Publishers Association and the Australian Copyright Council. CAL represents authors, journalists, visual artists and photographers, as well as newspaper, magazine and book publishers acting in the role of non-exclusive agent in order to licence the copying of these members' works to the community. It also administers the copying of print material by educational institutions, government bodies, businesses and other organisations. |

The Phonographic Performance Company of Australia Ltd (PPCA) was established in 1969. PPCA is a national, not-for-profit organisation which represents record companies and recording artists. The company licences the broadcast and public performance rights in sound recordings and music videos. It collects income from these rights and distributes these licence fees to recording artists and record companies. |
